Become a Fiber Angel

The Eastern Great Lakes Fiber Conference (EGLFC) has a proud 45-year history of bringing world class fiber artists to the local, Eastern Great Lakes region. The conference is a place where fiber lovers of all abilities can learn and grow in their own skills as fiber artists. The setting is intimate and personal. The location is convenient and folks don’t have to travel great distances. Every two years, old and new friends gather to learn and share in a relaxed environment for three days of immersion and camaraderie in the fiber arts. So that we can continue to offer the same level of quality in our programming, we are seeking ways to offset rising costs.

One way is our Fiber Angels Program. By becoming a Fiber Angel, past and future participants, guilds and interested businesses can ensure ongoing stability and cost containment EGLFC. Perhaps you would like to donate in someone’s honor.  Your donation helps us reduce program expenses and provide ongoing seed money for upfront expenses for future conferences.

A suggested donation is $100, but donations in any amount are graciously appreciated.  You may send a check or use PayPal.  Remember that EGLFC is a tax exempt charity which enables your donation to be a tax deductible gift or Qualified Charitable Distribution.  If you are or your financial institution is sending your donation by check (personal, cashier or electronic), please make the check payable to EGLFC and mail to:

If requested, a letter of receipt will be provided for the IRS.  This letter will be emailed to you unless you provide your mailing address on the donation form.

Join the Team

We are a team of volunteers who are committed to planning and running a high quality, fun and educational experience for our fiber friends.

Many volunteer hours go into planning EGLFC. It’s a great way to meet people and share your love of fiber arts with like minded individuals. There are a variety of roles and committees to join in support of EGLFC.  We have our leadership in place for 2027 and the team has been working hard on conference preparations! These roles include:

Help Spread the Word

Eastern Great Lakes Fiber Conference is a completely “volunteer-powered” enterprise, including a hard-working Publicity Team whose sole purpose is to do just that! They are putting together a half page flyer that you can print and share with your friends or customers. When it is ready, a link to the flyer will appear here.

But nothing beats word-of-mouth to share in the enthusiasm of attending a unique fiber conference and weekend retreat to whet the appetite of fiber love like that of EGLFC.  Autumn is a great time of year to invigorate our enthusiasm for fiber arts — a passion that’s particularly suited for the long, gray winters in our northern climate.

Volunteer at the Conference

Many volunteer hours go into planning EGLFC. Many more are needed during the conference itself. Some ways you can volunteer a small portion of your time during the conference weekend are:

• Registration/Check-in Table
• Set-up/Take-down events
• Take a shift in the Exhibit Hall 
• Be a runner at the Studio Bonanza
• Model in the Fashion Show
